World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrading of your equipment is an essential aspect of equipping your character. Upgrades increase item damage and enchantments.

Weapons
When an item is upgraded, it will gain a base damage bonus and an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. These upgrades can be inserted into armor, weapons, trinkets, or gathering tools. Most require that the equipment have an available upgrade slot and meet certain requirements. In addition to the basic upgrades, a weapon can be upgraded with a Calibration Attribute that improves certain stats such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. This can be repeated four times, based on weapon level.
Once the weapon has reached its maximum level of improvement, it can then be modified to give different bonuses and effects or improve specific stats. All of these upgrades can be applied simultaneously, and their effects will differ based on how rare the weapon is.
Two Blacksmiths can be upgraded in the game: Blacksmith Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace and Smithing Master Hewg at the Church of Elleh hub. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons, and Somber Smithing Stones for modifying the kind of damage that a weapon inflicts.
In general, it's best to improve your weapon's damage first. Then you can improve your armor defense, and then those secondary stats required by your build. You can upgrade your Trinkets at the Alchemy Station by placing them into the Magical Catalyst. It will cost you 6 energy and boost the trinket's power by just a little.
